SUMMARY:Australian Mathematics Competition
DESCRIPTION:The Australian Mathematics Competition is an internationally recognised mathematics competition.  It is also one of the world’s largest school based mathematics competitions.  It’s aim is to help students reach their mathematical potential.  More than 30 countries participate very year. \nThe AMC Senior Division (Years 11 and 12) paper consists of 30 questions.  Time allowed is 75 minutes for the paper.  In 2017 it will be available in two modes:  online and pen and paper. \nParticipants gain valuable training.  It is worth noting  that Australia’s leading mathematicians aged under 40 were discovered and developed at least partly as a result of participation in the AMC. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Oliphant Science Awards
DESCRIPTION:The Oliphant Science Awards is an annually held competition for South Australian school students from Reception to Year 12 to develop their interest in science through a science based competition with a range of categories to suit a wide variety of abilities and interests. \nLearning science encourages students to develop a range of skills such as observation\, prediction and communication as well as expanding their knowledge within and between the diverse domains of science. The Oliphant Science Awards provide students with an opportunity to expand their scientific literacy\, by showing interest and understanding in the world around them and engaging in discussions about science. \nThe South Australian Science Teachers Association (SASTA) has conducted The Oliphant Science Awards every year since their inception in 1981\, with Sir Mark Oliphant the patron of this competition named in his honour and running with his legacy. The Awards recognise the excellent work of students with prizes in each age group and category\, along with Sponsor and school prizes for outstanding achievements. \n2017 Award Categories include: \n\nComputer Programming and Robotics\nCrystal Investigation\nGames\nModels & Inventions\nMultimedia\nPhotography\nPosters\nScience Writing\nScientific Inquiry
