My definition of success breaks away from the traditional view that achieving fame, fortune and power are the measures of success.

I tend to see success as deeply individual.   It about getting to your destination and having that deep sense of satisfaction when you know that you have done your absolute best to become the best you are capable of becoming.  It is not about competing with another person but rather it is about competing with yourself.

My take on success is also about living in accordance with your core values.  Acclaimed author, Maya Angelou, said it well: ‘Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.’

I also recognise, however, that success is a grind.  It involves hard work, learning from failure and persistence.  As Inventor, Thomas Edison so aptly put it: ‘Success is 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration.’
