SuccessDNA’s expert mentoring equips beginning teachers and teachers new to teaching in the senior secondary, with the skills that are crucial not only to success but to high achievement in the senior secondary.

Secondary teacher education courses at universities:

  • qualify graduates to teach in middle and senior secondary school
  • involve specialisation in two different subject areas which are generally taught at senior secondary level
  • include observation and teaching practice in schools

These teacher preparation programs, however, constitute only initial teacher preparation.  While they equip novice teachers with critical knowledge and skills about teaching and cultivate understanding of learning, some of the most critical elements of teaching are only learned in the workplace, on the job. Professional learning about teaching is a complex process that requires the putting of knowledge and understanding into practice.

Schools, parents and students have very high expectations of their children’s teachers, and never more so  than in Year 12.  They rely on them to provide high quality teaching and to help their child navigate Year 12 successfully and become the best they can be.

New graduates, employed to teach at a school, may be allocated Year 12 classes to teach.  At one fell swoop,  they will assume full pedagogical and legal responsibility for their students.  This, coupled with the expectations of school, parents and students, can be quite stressful.

This transition into the teaching profession and/or to teaching in the senior secondary, can be facilitated by our expert mentoring.  Begin your teaching journey with the right foundations in place, and establish a firm basis for a strong and effective teaching career.

Take our online and face to face confidential, structured, individualised or group support program, connect the dots, and see your teaching capacities grow more quickly.  Use our experiences, skills and teachings to amplify and expedite your results and develop innovative professional practices.

The SuccessDNA mentoring program has been referenced to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST).
